I'm such a nerd!
Well I guess I should post a little something here. Today is infact Christmas. It doesn't feel much like it to me. I had some Christmas hotdogs and a Christmas soda or two. I guess I should call my Grandma. It would be the nice thing to do.
So now I'm bored. I would be just fine working or at least knowing if I'm getting paid stantby sitting here waiting on weather.
only 10 and a half more hours to go.
Well maybe.
I'm going back off shore tomorrow. The job should be done before Christmas. If it isn't....it isn't.
umm....so as of this post I'm about 2/3s packed.
Depending when I get back I might try to go out on one more job, then take about 5 weeks off.
Ha! not many jobs where you can take 5 weeks off and still have a job ;)
I started my day early and more or less on track to at least do something productive. It didn't end that way. In fact I didn't do ANYTHING productive.

Ok, I'm going to be stupid and go out and buy the phone that you might as well call a mini computer!
I got the money and I just want to make buy something.
It's funny. I wont spent $20 on a pair of slippers, but I'll go out and spend $350 on a new phone!
I guess I'm also going to take up paying the cell phone bill for my parents...blah.
it's only an extra $20 / month so it isn't going to break the bank.

I went to the AT&T store and really wanted to.
And I really hate how much their stupid data plans cost! $50 a month for unlimited data / messaging.
How come I can't just be happy with a normal simple phone?

This is something I don't under stand.
Why do I have to tip the pizza delivery person? Heck, they charged me extra to bring it here. The first girl couldn't even find the place.
It feels like I am making up for them not being paid as they should. It isn't my fault they are getting paid minumin wage. I was talking to a friend about this just today. They work for a pizza place in fact. Needless to say we didn't really agree on the topic at hand.
I still tipped the person. I know it doesn't cost $21 to make a large pizza. And about this large.....14 inches! geez. it looks like a medium.
And the person that cuts my hair. Why do they get tips? For doing a good job? How about fire them if they suck. It takes something like 15 minutes to cut my hair and it cost $15. I'm not even big on doing the dinky little small talk. Just cut my hair with out messing it up and I'll leave.
If I go eat at Ihop and it cost $20ish then the next week I eat at the MGM grand only this time it cost $60.
If I get the SAME service at both places, I think I should leave the SAME tip. All they did was refill a soda, water, beer a few times. No rocket science here.
Geez. So not fair.

Well I got back earlier this week, just haven't stopped by here yet
Like I said above, I spent 44 days from when I left til I got back. That is 6 weeks and 2 days. A month and a half. I wouldn't say I worked every day, but I was on the clock none the less. I guess I didn't leave on the best of terms. I kind of burnt that bridge so to speak. In the same breath that the boss man said that I was the best out of us three new guys and have shown the most initiative, he would never work with me again.
Here's the story.
The first 4 and a halfish weeks there is wifi access on the barge. Great! Due to the all steel walls it only goes out about 10 feet from the room that has the wireless router. I had a nice little spot outside where I could log on and just relax for an hour or two after shift. Work wasn't hard, but it's all I had to do. Then one day they turned it off. So it goes off for a few days, but nothing is ever said as to WHY is went off. So I asked about it in the morning safety meeting. Turns out it is for business use only now. WTF Over!
That pissed me off. I wouldn't mind it if there was just no access to start with. God forbid that the Superintendent didn't get 20 phone calls from his wife a day and I'm sure none of these business people are checking person e-mails or anything like that. So why the fuck take it away? Why the fuck is your communication more important than mine? It's true, they did have a public computer, but a hamster in a wheel has more computing power than this computer did. Oh and tell me just how many pages you could load on a slower than dial up Internet connection in 15 minutes.
So after all that went down I put my name on the list to go home. Ha! my boss didn't take that very well. I couldn't believe it seems he was getting mad at me. So, I told him I'd think about it for a day and took my name off the list. Well, that night I ended up waiting an hour and half to check my e-mail. That wasn't going to fly. I told the boss that night I was going to put my name back up on the list.
Well I ended up leaving about 3 days before the job was finished. Could I have stayed out there, sure. I just didn't want to. So the company had to send a hot-shot to come and pick me up. I work for one of the, if not THE, biggest diving company in the world I don't think they are going to go broke over having to pick me up.
So yeah, that boss isn't going to ask for me on any of his jobs anymore.
In a way it works out. I'll be working barges or over seas jobs, nothing I really want to be working on right now. If I don't work on another pipe lay barge until I become a diver I wouldn't have any regrets.

Damn I'm good!
Geez. I want to dive. The water looks so nice right now. There isn't anything here that I can't do.
At least I rock at what I do. The divers all seem to like me. that's nice.
Humm I guess that is all I can think of right now.
As of tomorrow it will be one full month that I never even stepped foot in my apartment. I left at the end of September and tomorrow is Nov. Monday marks 5 weeks I would have been out here and I must say that I do enjoy the pay checks. I don't really spend much of my money while I'm out here.
I can't believe it has almost been 5 weeks...
Like I said..I'm sick.
I also seem to have a snot factory up some place in my nose.
so seeing as I'm a guy I just blow the snot out of my nose and onto the deck of the barge (floor for those that don't know). Well I cover the left side and blow snot out the right. zOMG the biggest! snot rocket of snot rockets came out of my nose. It was bigger, that's right bigger!, than my nose. Crazy big. Had to blog about it big.
It was about 4 inches long just hanging from my nose!
I had to get that thing swinging side to side to get it to break its hold to me. it was that big. There were snot bubbles in it while I was blowing out my nose.
In fact when it did hit the ground there was even a *splat* sound to go with it. Crazy, I know!
and there was someone there to watch all this.
oh poor poor me!
Well I'm getting a little better now. Still isn't any fun. I can't really take any sick days out here. 12 hours on and 12 hours off every day. Yes, every day.
Well I should go take a shower. Hummm seems like I blog then think about a shower.
Oh I finished reading The Inferno. It was good. It was kind of easy to read. I didn't get some of the names or the cities, but the story behind it was cool. The book also had notes talkin' about what is going on and junk like that.
This one is a few days early. Monday will mark 4 weeks out here. Not too bad by any means.

Well I got to go in the water today. It wasn't a dive or anything, but I did have waves coming over my head. Just had to go do some work out where the pipe come out and goes into the water. Took about 20 minutes or so. I looked good for the boss man and everything.
and other new....I'm tired. It was a good day of work. We did a dive. They should start pushing out some pipe on this (day) shift. Then tomorrow will be 2 dives per shift.
I am really thinking about applying to a different company after a year.
Well I'm still out here. We still haven't start laying any pipe down. I've been looking at a different dive hat. One that I think I am going to have to take a look and see. It is a 6 hour drive but I think it'll be worth it. The more and more that I read about it, the more that I am liking what I read. it is almost 1000 cheaper, but that isn't the reason I want it. This hat might just be a little part of history in 15 years from now.
The Kirby Morgan has about an 80-90% of the market share while this guy has 20 hats at most out in use. In fact that this model that he has out are the first two that he has made. So 15 years from now I can say I had one of his first.
Well I've been up here for about 3 and a half or four hours now maybe I should go back down to where I should be "working" at.
Going on 3 weeks without really doing any work.
Well two weeks have gone by and we still haven't done any diving.
We should start laying pipe soon. Oh but the tug boat is brokened. Might have to go in and have a new tug come out. It'll take 7-8 hours for one to come out here. Heck the crew boat that was coming out here last night turned around and went back in. So who knows. And on top of that the x-ray machine thingy is brokened too! We can't put pipe in the water that hasn't been inspected.
so yeah. That's what I've been up to.

So I'm thinking, I know, this is the dive hat I want to get. The cost is $6200 with a deposit of 25%
Not cheap by any means, but it is for life support. Heck it is more than I spent on my car! Almost a lot more than I spent on my car. This is the biggest item I have to buy. I haven't even been in the water here yet. Not one dive under my belt. I really hope I get one on this job, but I'm not going to hold my breath for it.
I kinda wish I could go back to the beach (land) for a day or two so I can put the deposit down on the hat.
The cost of the hat will make a big dent into my savings, but I think it is better to spend the money now that I have it. I will just pinch pennies later if I have to. I'll make it work. My cost of living isn't that great. I can get buy cutting cable out and that alone will save $70 / month. I might just do that.
I don't even plan on setting foot in my apartment this or next month. It is great paying rent when I'm not there. Maybe I should have left my tv on so at least I'm using the cable :P
I just e-mailed the guying telling him that it's sold! I just wonder if I can get on the list for a hat from out here or if I'll have to go in.

It is going on two weeks now and they still havn't started laying any pipe. Not one dive so far. There has been some talk about puting us tenders on to an on-call status or maybe just working four 6s. I wouldn't mind working 6 hours a day and getting paid for 12. Other than that not must going on here. I'm on shift right now. Soon I'm going to go down and eat some lunch at 5am. I wonder what they are having. I wonder why my yahoo isn't connection. I'm also not a big fan of the dipshit I get to work with.

Today I did a little shopping. Well before that I was also awake for 30ish hours. Geez.
So anyways. I first went looking for some new work boots. I don't really need a new pair yet, I just wanted a chance to break them in before I needed them. I'll also like to have them so I got two pairs of water proof boots to take with me offshore.
If I end up on the barge again, I need more books to read. So I got me 4 books. Oh oh oh!!! Good story here. So, since I been awake for all this time I thought I would be a good idea to get me a carmel macchiato for where else but Starbucks. I haven't had one in awhile and this one was good. The worst thing to do when going to a book store is to have no idea what you want to read. I'm not the biggest reader so I'm not too sure what I would really like to read.
I walked around the damn store for 2 hours before finding some books that looked good. I didn't just want to buy one book. I wanted a group of 3 or 4 books. Well I found one that looks good and has 5 books, I just got the first 3. Then I just happened to think of The Iliad. A book that well lets just say I didn't read it in high school. ;)
Then I happened to see some Dante. Now, I have never read any Dante, I just know the books have been around awhile (about 650 years). I must have spend another hour just looking at different translations. It took some time to find what I really wanted. So far I'm happy with my choice.

I hate when I can't sleep. I only got about 6 hours of sleep last night. I guess it takes me a night or two to get used to sleeping in my room again. I guess I just need to rant some. Geez I know I'm getting tired, I'm making some lamo typos that I keep having to go back and fix.
It also bums me out that I need to pay off my school loans and still buy about $10,000 worth of gear for work. Sure I make good money in this job, but it cost a lot too.
Ok I think I just gave up on sleep. At least for right now. I'll just stay up for the long haul then sleep good tonight. I'm even making some coffee. In a few hours I'll go to the store and check out some boots. I might buy some...maybe not. I want to buy a pair now so I can break them in. That way I can have two pairs of work boots ready.
And I just got back to my apartment.
not bad after 12 hours of travel. Getting sea sick. Throwing up. feeling better.

All this not working junk is giving me some real odd sleeping hours. I boarded up the one window in my room. Now very little light comes in. The fact that I didn't wake up 'til 4:30ish pm doesn't help any. So now it is 7:30am. When will I go to sleep... no body knows.

Most of the time when I blog about girls it is just the silly ones. This one takes the cake though.
I've known this one for a long time now. We'll call her...Erin. I went to see her a few weeks ago. Hung out had a good time, I spent way too much money, and then came back. Now this storm comes up and I start thinking of places to go. I tell her about the storm and that I was thinking about leaving town. She tells me that she is only a phone call away. Now, if I did go there my room would be a lot cheaper than staying here.
Well I also have a friend in GA that I wouldn't mind hanging out with. When I told her that I was thinking of going to GA she asked why. I said I have a buddy that I wanted to see over there. I like using words like "buddy" or "friend" 'cause they don't say anything about gender and that just leaves them to guess and wonder.
While talking to Erin latter that night she thought that she knew all of what I was going to GA to do. Erin thought for sure that I was going to see some girl. That I went to see her a few weeks ago that I want to see a new girl this week (how true that part is :P ). Erin then went to say something like this, "I'm not stupid, I know your going to go see some other girl." I could not tell her how wrongs he was. So I didn't :P
Ok people I got a buddy who lives in GA. He has a wife and 3 kids. I just wanted to go and drink a few beers with him. Hang out in Atlanta and go to some boobie bars there. That was it. lol not "to see some girl" well only the ones with boobies in my face!
Now I'm in Memphis. Not seeing anyone. Just wanted to go on a little trip. So I texted Erin tonight. saying "woohoo Fresno State won. Going to a boobie bar tonight"

I felt like calling her an idiot or something, but I just haven't replied and I'll let her think that I'm out with some chick. How wrong she is.

Well I made it up to Memphis, TN yesterday.
1:00 am -- Left my apartment
2:00 pm -- Checked into the hotel room.
The first 200 miles took just about 6 hours. It wasn't to bad until I got on the I-55 north. Then it was just stopped. I got on the 55 at 2:30ish and when the sun came up it was. I never seen so many cars on the road at one time.
I also got a few minutes of nap, if you can even call it that.
By the time I got to sleep, some time after 8 o'clock, I have been awake for more than 24 hours.
When I got to Memphis I going one of those books at the visitors center I got one of those books that have a list of all the hotels in it. Out of the 17 hotels that I called only 2 had rooms. I was happy when I found the first one I looked at the listing and it was listed at a budget hotel. Humm. The place was in downtown Memphis, so I thought that even if it wasn't that good that I'd still be able to walk to a place. Well it's in old downtown, not the new and hip part. The first thought I had was "woah." It was just a total dive of a "budget" motel. When I pulled in to park, I was asked if I was parking or staying by some kid. I said I was just going to park for a few minutes. Then he said that he was going to need $5 from me. I told him to go fuck him self and that I was going to leave (ok I didn't really say it like that). Then a little older kid asked me if I was going to stay at the motel. I said yes. He said that I didn't have to pay then.
So after I parked there the first thing I did was start calling for another place to stay. I wasn't going to come all the way out here and then stay in a dive. I started making more phone calls. After calling 5 or 6 other places I got this one. It's not bad. The place is right on the University of Memphis campus. In fact I had a hard time finding it, it looks like all the other building on campus.
Yesterday I had three things on my list that needed to get one.
1) Food
1) Beer
1) Sleep
I had no clue who to put them in order, so I had to make them all number 1s. I ended up eating at UBess. It was good, I just never thought I'd be the only person (other than staff) in a resturant at 5:30ish. Today I went to Huey's and had an awesome hamburger. It was great. Only they didn't have the sound on for the football game. So yeah had to get back to my room and watch Fresno State win!!!!!

Everyone should have to do the same number of push-ups, pull-ups, and sit-ups in the military. Everyone should have to run at the same times. If a job needed me to lift 80 lbs then everyone should have to. Guess what, to be a tender men and women have to lift the same weight the same amount of time.
So if I'm American and you're African American or Mexican American does that make you equal? NO. If you want equal just say you're American. Maybe Black-American or Brown-American. If you are from America and your parents-parents are also from America, guess what you're American. If you want to be Mexican or African then go back. Simple.

ok ok. I'll just end it here before I go too (or should it be to) far off the deep end.
Today I worked 18 hours. Here is how it went.
7:20 -- Out of bed
8:00 -- Working at the shop
12:15 -- Went to lunch (taco bell)
1:00 -- Clocked back in
3:00 -- Got the call and clocked out
4:00 -- Came back to the shop with all my gear
4:15ish -- Left for the dock
6:00ish -- Got to the dock
12:00am (ala midnight) -- Shift over.
I think I got a few hours travel pay too. I <3 my overtime!
I think it's time for sleep now.
Well I am off shore again. (For those of you that don't read titles). This boat is about 50 feet longer a few more people and works 24 hours a day. I'll be working the night shift that is noon to midnight. Being that this boat has two crews on it I'm not going to get as much overtime on this boat. I'll only be getting 84 hours a week.
This boat also has 4 anchors. What that means that it can keep itself in place with out having to be tied up to a platform or something. The room I'm in is HUGE I got 3 other people (well 2 work the day shift) 4 wall lockers, 2 sets of bunks and all this in a nice big 7 x 12 room well give or take a lil.
oh oh I guess I should also blog about the phone call I got to get this job. So it turns out that people like to call me while I'm helping a diver get out of the water, it happened twice today AND I only helped two people get out of the water! Geez people!
Ok back to the story. So this person calls two times (today number is 2 ha! ha!) didn't leave a message, but the area code was from the area I work. So I called it back. It was a good thing that did. He needed a person a.s.a.p. he even asked if I had my gear in my car with me ready to go. I told him that it was at my apartment and that was just a few miles away. He told me to go get it and come back right away.
I know I forgot a few things: watch, sandals, some other things. My goal when I get back is to buy all the extra stuff I need that way I can just keep my bag packed. I did keep most of the stuff together, just dumped out on my floor :P
I hope that this job will last me 4 weeks. I just love them pay checks.

Not so sure why this is. I'm tired, I feel tired. I just don't want to sleep. I'm also hungry. I'm sure that doesn't help.
Hum. I guess the only having soda to drink does not help. Do I have much on my mind? Not really. Heck I haven't even been blogging much any more. I'm not so sure why that has dropped off.

Hum 5:10am I did get about 4 hours of sleep. I really miss sleeping in.
The other day I didn't go to sleep 'til 4ish am and got the nice sound of people hammering on the roof right out side my apartment at 7am. That sucked. I think that is what messed me up. I also get the sun coming in my lil ol' window. Stupid sun.

oh yeah. I didn't go to work today. I didn't really feel like wasting my time today. I guess I'll start going agian on monday if I don't get called out over the weekend.
Well I got me a nice little laptop on Monday. ASUS G50v. it does everything I want and then some.
My last day off was June 27th, however, I have been back at my apartment twice since then. I was getting paid even on my days off for 12 hours so that doesn't count :P
umm. I know I had some other stuff to blog about but for the life of me I can't remember.
I guess I should get reading and then sleep time.
Blah. I don't know why I got some of the people on there. Eh, oh well. Maybe I'm just bored. It is 2:42am after all. Another day of not working. It makes for really long days when you are trapped on a boat. I spent all day in my family guy pants watching TV and reading. yes...me reading. I got a book before I came back out here. I can't remember the last time I went to the store to buy a book.
Maybe I just need a Blow Job :P

I'm back on a boat. Again not working.
Today the other boat out here had A/C troubles and had to go back to the dock. They thought it was fixed but after only a few miles it wasn't working again.
I'll have my laptop sometime next month. It depends when I go back in. My guess as of right now is that I'll be out here for 3-4 more weeks. I'll be fine with that. Well...I'll be bored but I'll be fine. I did get me a book and a 2 more games for my PSP. Yesterday was payday. That was nice. Not as much as I thought it would be, but good enough none the less.
I need to put it all into savings. Come this fall / winter I don't know how much I'll be working. Oh I need to buy a bag and some lil things for my laptop, but that's it.
Maybe we'll do some work tomorrow. I think...
