Bitter sweet.

For me when I get the chance to go back home it is always bitter sweet. There is never enough time to see everyone that I want to. Then some people end up working odd hours.

On the good side of things I went to my old place of work on Monday. Oh it was great seeing some of my old co-workers. No one knew I was going to be there 'til I just showed up. Great times. It's just too bad that I couldn't spend more time there.

I try not to think about the fact that I'll have fewer and fewer chances to see these guys. It's not like I'll never come back. It also isn't my first time moving away. Still isn't any fun.

38 feet sea water

That is now that all time deepest I have been in water.

We are a class project that we are working on. I don't know how well it is going to turn out. It's like working with tunnel vision. I'm sure a lot of people wouldn't be able to deal with it. Now I've had to jump in while being blindfolded. So yeah, I'm used to the water now.

It was cool.

my mom is stupid.

She calls me up and says...

You're going to be mad when I tell you what I did...

and I go ok, so what did you do.

Well you know those single size frozen dinners. well I only wanted half, but it was good so I ate the whole thing. Then I felt blotted and stuff. So I threw it all up [on purpose].

I hung up on her after that...

San Diego Zoo

I really want to go there one of these weekend. The last time I went to that zoo I was 8, give or take, years old. I hated it. It was how and I was just a kid. Blah wasn't fun at all. So who all is up for a road trip to the zoo?

Maybe some time next year I'll go.

I haven't talked to him in about 10 years

I was talking to my dad (no it isn't him!) today at lunch. He told me that someone that I know called my Grandmama's. She is the only one in my family with a listed number. Well my dad just happened to be there so he took the call.

So he tried to make me guess who called and I had no idea at all who it could be.

Well it ended up being my Scout Master from my days in the Boy Scouts! So I called him up and talked to him some after work. He said that out of all the troops he has had that I had the biggest impact on him. We spent a few minutes talking about some of the times I was FREEZING cold.

*story time*
On why of the camping trips we went on. We set up camp, duh. Then the next day just went on a little day hike. Well it started raining. It started hailing. It was cold. It was fucking freezing cold! All of my clothes was wet. it seemed like we would never get back.

well we did
*story over for now*

well I'm going to stop by his house for a few minutes next week or so.

I can't wait to talk about some of the times we've had. After 10 years he still remembered me, well I remembered him too. so yeah.

Call me!

(559) 892-1659

yes, this is me. For real. I wanna see if this works.

Is it school or work?

Well I don't get paid so it much be school. Starting Thursday we have to be there and ready to go by 6am. That means I'm going to have to set my alarm for 4:45am....YUCK Oh and we're doing 10 hour days. That should be fun. No stopping for lunch or breaks. Well at least not as a group, we'll be diving all day. Should be different to say the least.

One shot....One kill

My dad was in the Air Force ROTC. He wanted to be a kc-135 refueler pilot. Well turns out he has asthma so it was going to be a desk job or get out. He got out. I was thinking about the Air Force for years and years it seems like. I went there a part of my life where I wanted to be a f-16 pilot. I remember thinking that I had the right body size for that. Kind of makes me wonder what my life would be like now if I would have really tried at all for that.

Then I went through some time where I thought I would be cool to be a sniper. Hell, I still do think it would be cool. To be able to take someone out half a mile away. wow. How different this blog would be if I went down that path.

For awhile I wanted to be an officer, then I didn't want to go through that much college.

So yeah. I was thinking about the military a LOT. And look how it all turned out. Even when I was getting out of the Air Force I was talking and checking out if I would be able to go into the Army as a Combat Engineer (21B).

Some of your duties as a Combat Engineer may include:
  • Constructing trails, roads and field fortifications such as shelters, bunkers and gun emplacements
  • Assembling floating or prefabricated bridges
  • Operating various light or heavy engineer vehicles
  • Placing and detonating explosives
  • Loading, unloading and moving supplies and equipment using planes, helicopters, trucks and amphibious vehicles
  • Operating or serving as a crewmember on a combat engineer vehicle, armored vehicle launch bridge or an armored combat earthmover
  • Preparing and installing firing systems for demolition and explosives
  • Locating mines by visual means or by using a mine detector
Well that didn't work as planned. Kinda glad that one didn't work out. It is kinda scary going from military to....not military any more.

So today is Veterans Day. I don't feel much like a vet. I don't think I did anything worth while. Sure I get VA health care, VA loan, and even a flag over my coffin when that day comes. Though, I just don't feel it.

Moose or not to Moose

Last night I had moose burgers.

BBQed moose burgers.

I had 2!

It was real good. I think better than just beef burgers. New roomies really hooked it up. I guess it doesn't hurt that they are from Alaska.

But yeah it was real good.

Update on school and what not

Well as long as I go to class tomorrow I will be getting a B in harbor 1. Next week starts Harbor 2, that last for 7 weeks. After that I go on to underwater welding! YaY I can't believe how fast time is going.

We also got some new roomies. Some guy and his lady friend moved on it. So that will help lower the rent some. hum don't really know what else to say.

Drag Boat racing

Went racing again this weekend. Last race of the year.

I'll only be able to make one or two races next year.

So here are a bunch of pictures. If you see some of boat 559 (it is a plane white boat), that would be the boat that I help with.

Test results

I failed.

I was in the water for over an hour and couldn't even get the two pipes together.

So I think I'll get a 50 (out of 100) on it.

Test 1: 99
Test 2: 95
Test 3: 50

I hurt and I'm going to sleep.

A great idea

Only I was trying to sleep when it came to me. Now I am awake thinking about it some more. Trying to think of just how I am going to do it.

Here are some pictures that I did real fast. I mean REAL fast. They kind of show what I need to do. They are NOT to scale.

(the red is the wire rope that they hang from)

Here you will see the two 6" pipe elbows that are in the water. About 12 feet below. One of them weighs about 110 the other about 130. They are sealed on the bottom so you got all the water / sand / and everything else adding weight to them.

Here you will see what I need to do to them. I need to rig it all up my self and pull them together. I can use pulleys and and all that good stuff to help, but that is also more stuff that could get messed up. Also got to install the gasket and 8 bolts.

In order to get an A on this I need to have it done and everything tight within 30 minutes. Every minute past that is one point off. Loose nut is 5 points and so on and so on.

Out of the 4 that went yesterday only one of them put it together. He had a time of 58 minutes. The record time for this I believe is 12 minutes.

This is what I am going to be doing around lunch time I believe.

Wish me luck.

oh yeah. this test is harder than you think it is. Even if you are thinking it's hard.....it's harder.
